Artist Creates Zippers and Closures on Human Skin

A new Japanese artist paints zippers and buttons on skin to create optical illusions.

Illusionary art sometimes reaches into the realm of bizarre images.

A Japanese artist, Choo-San certainly has an unusual approach to artwork. Specializing in illusionary makeup art, she utilizes acrylic paint to create designs on people's bodies. She then takes photographs of her completed works.

One of her masterpieces includes a silver, painted zipper running down a woman's naked back. The zipper is halfway down; revealing another zipped opening making it appear like the model's back is bursting at the seams. She has also painted buttons on stomachs and lace ties on models' bare feet.

The 19-year-old artist was looking to do something radically unique. Choo-San caught art-lovers eyes earlier this year when she painted facial features in the wrong places and added robotic elements to the human body.

2012 was her first year at Musashino Art University in Tokyo and she has proven herself as a major source of talent.

Her inspiration is surprisingly the opposite of technology. She states "I was a little sick of everyone making pictures with their computers and wanted to see how far I can go without those technologies such as Photoshop."
